Smyrna Little League Wins 2018 Tournament of State Champions for 9-11 Year Olds!!!

The Championship Game of this rain plagued tournament couldn’t pass without a passing 5^th inning shower but it made no difference to a determined Smyrna, Georgia team as they defeated Tar Heel Little League of Greenville, North Carolina by a score of 15-4. The game was knotted at 2 after an inning but it was all Georgia after that. Georgia went up 5-2 after two innings. They then added 1 in the third, 3 in the fourth and 6 insurance tallies in the top of the sixth. North Carolina picked up 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth to round out the scoring. Georgia’s 10 hit attack was paced by a quartet of players with 2 hits each. These players were Braden Lightsey (2-4), Robert Hicks (2-4), Alex Johns (2-4), and Kyle Wright (2-4). Joel James (1-4) and Peyton Robidoux (1-4) had the other Georgia hits. Davis Bradley was 2-2 to lead North Carolina. Parker Watson (1-3), Reading Blount (1-2), and Quinn McCaffrey (1-2) picked up the other hits for North Carolina. Connor Mason was the winning pitcher for Georgia.
